Wireless Flash News

Brook Fischer at Wireless Flash News did a really nice story on BadAss Paddles which went out over the wires Halloween day. I've quoted the story below for those of you who don't have a subscription to Wireless Flash. I'm thinking a subscription would be fun to have… WFN distinguishes themselves from other wire services in the following  words:

Our editorial staff pursues news angles other agencies don't dare touch. We have a long-standing reputation throughout the media world for providing stories that are edgy, offbeat, controversial, and downright weird.

Kind of like Chuck Shepherd's News of the Weird but on a daily basis, instead of weekly.

Anyway, Brook and I both had a lot of fun with the interview… Sometimes the best thing about my gig as an artist and designer is the people I get to talk to in the course of getting the work out there.

New Spanking Paddles Good For The Environment

MANCELONA, Mich. (Wireless Flash) – Here’s something brand spanking new AND environmentally friendly: spanking paddles made from recycled street signs and tires.

Artist John T. Unger, the creator of Bad Ass Paddles, says he often works with recycled material and that tires are “such a huge waste product it’s insane.”

Initially he wanted to line the metal paddles with used tires, but sadly, they “didn’t have enough tread” to leave sufficient spank marks.

Instead Unger uses leftover tire re-tread material, which he says helped him achieve “the look I wanted.”

The artist offers spankers “The Original Bad Ass Paddle,” “The Master Mechanic Tire Flogger,” which he says is “more flexible and delivers more sting” and the “Talkin’ Trash Custom Tire Paddle,” which includes the word(s) of your choice in a street-sign motif.

Unger is sure the “bondage and fetish crowd” will steer towards his tire paddles, but adds, “There’s gotta be some eco-freaks that are into some freaky stuff too.”

Paddles are $60 to 80 and can be purchased at www.tirepaddle.com.
